Area (HIDTA) consists of areas in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. The

responsibility: Hancock, Harrison, Hinds, Jackson, Lafayette, Madison and
Rankin.
As of November 22, 2006, there were 27 drug courts in existence or
being planned in Mississippi. Fifteen drug courts had been operating for more
than 2 years, 4 had recently been implemented and 8 were being planned at that
time. Approximately 40% of the Federal drug offenses in Mississippi involved
crack cocaine.
During 2006, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported
making 196 arrests for drug violations in Mississippi. There were 13,953 drug
arrests in Mississippi during 2005.
