As of August 2006, there were 85 drug courts in Florida that had been operating for more than 2 years, 6 that had recently been implemented, and 7 that were being planned. During 2005, more than 40% of the Federally-sentenced defendants in Florida committed a drug offense, with nearly half of those involving powder cocaine.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported 2,840 drug arrests in Florida during 2005. There were 146,579 adult drug arrests in Florida during 2005.
